Vaikom Satyagraha

Vaikom is a place on the western side of Kottayam district in Kerala. 

The satyagraha happened between March 30, 1924 and November 23, 1925.

The prominent leader of the movement was the Congress leader T.K. Madhavan.

It was a movement against untouchability and caste discrimination.

Madhavan, K.P. Kesava Menon and George Joseph launched the movement in Kerala and Periyar and Kovai Ayyamuthu from Tamil Nadu supported the same 

The Chief Ministers of Kerala Chief and Tamil Nadu have jointly inaugurated the centenary year celebrations of Vaikom Satyagraha.
