Marine Spatial Planning Framework



The Union Territory of Puducherry has launched India's first Marine Spatial Planning framework under the pact of the Indo-Norway Integrated Ocean Initiative 
 

It will be implemented by the Ministry of Earth Sciences through the National Centre for Coastal Research for India.
 

The framework aims to balance growth alongside sustainable management of the ocean resources and the preservation of the coastal environment.
 

It provides a public policy process for society to decide on how the ocean and coasts are sustainably used and protected.
