Lokayuktas



In India, the concept was first proposed in the early 1960s by the then-law minister Ashok Kumar Sen.


Dr. L. M. Singhvi coined the term Lokpal and Lokayuktas.


The establishment of Lokpal for the Union and Lokayuktas for States provided by the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013.


Lokayutas were first in Maharashtra in 1971.


The recommendations of the Lokayuktas are only advisory and not binding on the state government.
