The National Park is located in Eravikulam and Idukki districts of Kerala.
South India’s highest peak- Anamudi is located in this area.
Its prominent fauna includes the Nilgiri Tahr, Lion-tailed macaques, Indian muntjac, gaur and sambar deer.
Tributaries of the Pambar as well as Periyar and Chalakudy form a catchment area here.
The Neelakurinji flower which blooms once in every 12 years is seen here.
The region was declared a National park in 1978.
