Anatolian Plate



An earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck Turkey and Syria.


It is one of the most seismically active regions in the Mediterranean region.


The Turkey ( Anatolian plate) sits between the major plates namely - African, Arabian and Eurasian.


The collision between the Arabian and African plates with Eurasian plate created the earthquakes.


The Anatolian plate is a continental tectonic plate comprising most of the Anatolian peninsula.
